Secretary of State Karen Handel Certifies Presidential Preference Primary Results

Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel today certified the elections results for the February 5 Presidential Preference Primary.

2,024,214 voters cast ballots in the Georgia Presidential Preference Primary, bringing voter turn out to 45 percent.

The results have been transmitted to the Governor. The Georgia Republican Party and the Democratic Party of Georgia will allocate delegates to their respective nominating conventions.

Karen Handel was sworn in as Secretary of State in January 2007. The Secretary of State's office offers important services to our citizens and our business community. Among the office’s wide-ranging responsibilities, the Secretary of State is charged with conducting efficient and secure elections, the registration of corporations, and the regulation of securities and professional license holders. The office also oversees the Georgia Archives and the Capitol Museum.
