Rep. Rick Renzi , who last week was handed a 35-count indictment, returned to Capitol Hill on Monday to face his colleagues and tell official Washington he is not going away.
“I will not resign and take on the cloak of guilt because I am innocent,” Renzi, R-Ariz., said in a written release. “My legal team of Reid Weingarten and Kelly Kramer will handle these legal issues while I continue to serve my constituents.”
An indictment unsealed Feb. 22 accuses Renzi of conspiracy, fraud, extortion and money laundering.
